Haley’s Chocolate Chunk Cookies { Cooking EDU

This week Haley wanted to share her favorite…and this year at the ripe old age of 8 she has now watched me make them so many times she can conquer these easily on her own!  Sounds like a fantastic cookie to me;-)

Let me start off by fessing up that I have an addiction to the annual Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart cookie cookbooks.  I treasure these magazines full of yummy cookies year after year.  I find at least one or two favorites each year and we make them over and over…cause they are good!

So the thing is we stumbled on this Chocolate chunk recipe stuffed in the back of the magazine several years ago
and these are the best chocolate chip/chunk
(whatever kindof chocolate you want to throw in there)
I have ever stumbled upon!
And trust me…I have tried many a chocolate chip recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose baking flour
  • 11 to 12 ounce baking chocolate chips/chunks

Directions:

Start by adding in your soften butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and egg.

Add in the remaining ingredients.
By the time you get to the chocolate chips
you may need to switch over to stirring with a good strong spoon…
that is if you are like us and add a big old bag in there;-)
We prefer Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate chips…
mainly because they are perfect to eat by themselves too.

Sometimes you have to “test” them, you know, to make sure they are the perfect chocolate;-)

Drop them on  a cookie sheet and toss the sheet in the oven.
350 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes.
I prefer mine on the soft side so I tend to bring them out after they just barely turn brown on the edges.

Enjoy!

I believe in miracles. I see them often…

You may remember Ms. Lauren …she holds a very special place in my heart.  She and her family started me on my Pictures of Hope journey…without them I would not have spent the last 1 and half photographing many of Richmond’s sweet little miracle babies for the March of Dimes at Henrico Doctors Hospital.

and she grew
and grew some more

So this little miracle family decided it was time to grow.  But Lauren’s sister surely couldn’t be born without putting Lauren’s story of being a miracle baby be better than hers.  Sisters.
So Gabby decided she needed to make a very grand entrance as well.  She came very early and on top of it poor mom was very very sick after having her.  It is a very long, story.  One that will make any family hug each other a little tighter at night and be thankful for the health of all family members and remind us that many of the things we worry about in life truly do not matter in the end.

What matters is family and love and…health.
Miracles.

Fast forward and now baby Gabby and mom are both home and healthy.
A Merry Christmas for sure!:-)

Lauren digs being a big sis:-)

and we can’t forget Ms. Lauren because she IS hands down one of the cutest kids I have ever worked with.
She makes me laugh non-stop and keeps me on my toes.
She didn’t know quite what to think of the snow:-)

but I wore her out… (I have that effect)
and her “toddler” was showing by the time we finished…lol!

I have loved watching this family grow and being documenting their amazing story.
I heart them…I really do.

elizabeth pellette - Tisha.. I love these photos and all the photos you have done for this family.. they have all come out so beautifully and you really do a beautiful job of telling their story through images and words.. ( as you do with all the families you photograph)

love ya girl

Tisha - Awe!! Thanks girlie! :-)
I love this family…one of my all time favorites for sure. I now call them friends not just clients. I can’t wait for the Spring and we have big ideas for redoing with the youngest some of the sessions we did with Lauren…it is going to be over the top cuteness no doubt! I owe you so much for sending them my way! Hope to do the same for you one day and send you a sweet family with adorable children to become your photography muses :-)
Hugs!February 5, 2011 – 5:47 pm

Time for a freebie!

I am so over the top hooked on MpixPro’s new Luxe line of cards.  The minute I saw them I knew I wanted to create and create and create some more goodies using these cute die cut cards:-)

These info forms (the wording) have been in use in my studio now for the better part of 5 years.  The paper design, of course, has changed because I am a designer and can’t leave anything alone for long but the wording… I love the simplicity of these information forms.  Plus, I can easily hand over the menu card at the end of our session so they have it with them when the time comes for their online ordering. I can e-mail the menu card to them as a PDF or JPEG when they request pricing online and it makes for a pretty presentation.

If you have studio policies these little cards would be great to print those on as well!  The templates are layered .psd’s so you could easily remove any wording I have added and just replace it with your own studios.

We are currently using these cards in our studio with the “hole added” option (via Mpixpro) and tie the two cards together with hemp rope.  We have an Epson R200 that allows us to print directly onto our clients image discs.  If you haven’t had the joy of working with a printer that will print right onto these DVD’s you are missing out!  I love this printing option!!  We then use a self adhesive DVD hub’s (just google DVD Hub’s) to attach it to the center of the scallop circle card.  They make such a cute little combo!

So the first set is all complete and up!  When we got them in from my beautiful Fed-Ex man you would have thought it was Christmas over here with all the oohing and awing over how beautiful they are.  I think the number one response has been how folks have never seen anything like it before.  Now of course those of us in the photography world may have but not the clients and non-photogs.  New and different…my favorite part of all?
Affordable printing.  I had looked into having custom die cut cards made about 3 years ago and the prices started in the $500 per batch range and I quickly decided against it for that purpose alone.

So now I figured I would go a step further than just designing a marketing set for sale.  I created a New Year 2011 calendar template for you to have for the grand price of FREE! I love “free” and figured you guys may enjoy it too;-) I enjoy it so much so, one of  my goals this year will be to create a free download at least once a month to share with you guys!

Click Here To Download Free 5×5 Calendar

Now there is more!  It’s Christmas you know…that means I am in a very good mood.
Very. Good. Mood.

From now until December 26th do these two things to be entered to win a free complete Sage Idea Marketing Set:

  1. Hit the “like” button at the bottom of this page and comment and you will be entered!
  2. See the box that says “Find Us On Facebook” with the little “Like” button at the top right of this page?  All you have to do is hit “Like” …now I am not making that a requirement to be entered because I know how cluttered an FB feed can get..but it is a great way to keep up with the weekly contests and freebies we will be holding this year…some will be for the FB page readers only;-)

Do at least #1 and it will enter you for a chance to win this weeks contest for the new Sage Idea Marketing Set!  I will be giving away sets to some very lucky readers this week!
