If you are like me then you are torn…
I love Christmas! The family time…the food…etc…
But the gifts…Oh don’t get me wrong! I love giving gifts when I have the actual money to give folks the gifts I really wish I could.
Life…well right now we are in the midst of Daryl’s big conversion from contract worker to Full time permanent and that means all good things!
Well except one…no paycheck for a month in between the gap.
Oh joy! Merry Christmas. Why do these things ALWAYS take place at the holidays?
Good thing I am well versed in “thrifty” and home made….
Figured I would take a minute and share one of my favorite little gifts I made this season for those lovely folks that all deserve a little something from us.
It may not be the fancy gift I would love to give them but I am all about feeding folks good food sooooo I shall give the gift of “yummy”.
I, of course, do cookies every year but that gets boring.
I am a chocolate addict and I know I am not alone in this. I decided to make homemade cocoa for folks!
Simple, economical and oh oh oh so good!
Added bonus is it is great in coffee and makes awesome chocolate milk (not just hot!)
Ready for this complex recipe? It’s crazy hard (not one bit!)
I picked up this great book a few years ago at Costco (of all the random places) and have had an on going love affair with it. I highly recommend it!
DIY Kitchen by Americas Test Kitchen
In a big old bowl mix:
3 cups dry milk powder
2 cups confection sugar
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups cocoa (splurge for the good stuff! It makes a huge difference!)
1/14 tsp. salt
I doubled the recipe for this go around….
Throw it into the blender…
I know right now you guys are thinking “She must have a Vitamix!” but truth be told those things are for folks who have lots of extra cash to burn…which is NOT me….so me? I have a Ninja and let me just say…this thing is a beast! It really does everything (except make the soup hot of course) the fancy Vitamix does. I shall save my money for now.
I pour it into little jars…
Give them a cute little tag….and off they go!
Poof… Happy Holidays!
The tags? They are in the label store over on Etsy.…actually I am adding alot of new tags into the store this week and next as Daryl is home for the “break” 😉
If you are in Richmond and would like to order some I can get them to you ASAP! No shipping required just drop me a line.
And yes…I have been doing lots of custom cuts so if you have something in mind just drop me a line! If you are in search of some creative holiday tags I can easily create those for you as well.
