One of my favorite things over the years of being a photographer has to be all the photography friends I have made over the years.
They are awesome! I was thinking about it yesterday as I received at least 3 referrals from other photographers for Fall sessions.
I love them.
I love that I have managed to find this crew of photography friends that are supportive of each other and helpful.
Not so darn competitive. I hate “competitive” because I feel like when you shut yourself off from other people in your industry you also are putting a cap on what those folks may have to teach you.
If you think you “know it all” about any industry you are in…you are doomed to failure.
So today is like Christmas though…
My friend David and I trade out family session from time to time and he is an amazing photographer! Has to be one of my favorites!
But he is secretly…ok not really “secretly”…the BEST film portrait photographer I have ever come across.
Seriously. His work with film and people blows my mind.
And even better…he is willing to share his knowledge with me and is even letting me borrow one of his many film 120mm cameras for a few days to capture my own kiddos and even took the time to teach me about the camera.
You guys know how I LOVE learning!
I have pictures of my own kids up in this house. Surprisingly though the “big ones” are mainly film.
I heart film. I started their 20 some years ago in college and this part of me never left.
The only film camera’s I have are 35mm though…one day I will have the extra dough to correct this but until then…
Today is like Christmas thanks to David!
I am sure I will be sharing my adventures with this beautiful camera in the next few weeks…well actually it will take a month to get it developed…which seems like FOREVER.
I can’t thank him enough! Also looking forward to our trade for family sessions this weekend …
Yes…I am actually going to be in a picture with my kids! Can you believe it? So rare!
These were from the last time I borrowed one of his cameras a few years back…
