Homeschooling rocks…Especially when the Fair is in town and you can go on a weekday and beat the crowd![]()

Most folks in the lovely RVA (Richmond) are very aware that we “lost” our state fair to bankruptcy this last Summer. It was sad!
We have taken the kids to the State Fair every year since they were itty bitty.
The thought of no fried oreo’s or corn dogs was horrifying!
But then a company bought the grounds and decided to have the fair after all.
Don’t you love a happy ending?
So the thing was by the time they “saved the fair” I think many of the vendors that normally come where already booked up elsewhere.
This years fair was fun but it was definitely missing about half of the animals and vendors it normally has.
We will still go next year though and hope that many of our favorites will return…
We did still get to have plenty of fun!
Lucas didn’t know what to think of the tram ride from the parking lot…his biggest “ride” of the day.

We had to break out the stroller for this event…something we seldom do.
This boy lives in a sling most days.

The boy clearly needs some lessons in how to ride in one of these things…
or maybe we should just remember to use the harness next time?

But he did find it fascinating…

You guys know we eat lots of health food but this was the fair.
The fair is not the fair without crap food….

Sadly Lucas now knows what “Fry fry” means…and he really digs them.

I promise all of us ate these….I swear.

Lucas needs this tractor…the big one.

and Grandpa needs this one…

and Grandma needs a few of these…

Actually I need a few myself…again that darn HOA ruins all plans.

These two are saying something like “Why are humans so strange?!”

and this one is thinking “OH CRAP!! NOT A BABY!”….
And yes, Lucas did almost knock the poor guys cage down…Daryl caught it though.
I just acted like I didn’t know them![]()

And Goats…We all agree we want goats…

The big kids were excited to get their ride passes…

Once they had those on Haley must have asked us 30 times “When are you and dad leaving? Soon?”
They knew that once we took Lucas out of there it was “game on” for some good old fashioned Grandparent spoiling.
BUT we had to look at all the stuff for sale at the fair…duh.

and by the end of it Grandma was doing an amazing job of keeping one little sleepy baby happy…

Oh and Haley just had to have a picture with the President…and even he isn’t immune to getting a set of her bunny ears.

Lucas could hang no longer though and we gave the big kids there wish…
We went home with just the sleepy baby….

Who upon arrival home was promptly thrown in a bath to get the fair dirt off…
His first fair was a big “hit” in his book![]()

He says he can’t wait for the Folk Festival this weekend!
He is secretly hoping for another “fry fry”.
