Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get the heck away from all of the Chick-fil-a Chicken Wars no doubt!

Anyone on Facebook today will tell you…this is getting beyond ridiculous.
I just knew you would love to hear my take on the whole thing…if not…
simply click on…I won’t take offense;-)

First off I am just, out right, annoyed that I have to think about any kindof sex when I go to purchase my favorite Chicken nuggets.
Why? Why? Why?
Why did the owner decide to make such an intolerant statement?  Did he not think about his franchise owners?
The people that support their families working at these franchises?
Is he so far removed from the common man that he didn’t know how this would effect his hard working employees?
Guess what my mom taught me… “If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all!”.
Great words to live by.

I am one of those crazy Christians who feel that it is NOT my place to judge any other person on this planet for who they chose to love.
I will leave the judging up to God…as per his request.
Instead I opt for love and kindness to ALL.
I have many family and friends who are gay and I can tell ya…
They have been in long term committed relationships that have never, once, effected my family or marriage in any way shape or form.
They are simply lovely people who deserve happiness.  Heck many of them even go to church.
Every. Single. Sunday.
Gasp.

Now back to the chicken situation.
Even though I know the owner of Chick-fil-a has views that differ from mine…
Even though I think this is a man that has some inner intolerance/hate issues…
Even though I think his whole approach to trying to win others over to his view point is the wrong method…
I truly do not mind him voicing his views because this IS America.
Free speech is such a gift.  I have a strong respect for giving others their own opinions.
To tie him and his chickens to a stake and burn him for saying what he thinks, even if I don’t agree, would make us no better than any country that keeps a lid on it’s people.
Telling them what they are allowed to say and think.
Do we really want to go there?  Do we want to be that country?

Personally I feel like my friends view points and mine are split down the middle…half think like I do…
The other half think I am dead wrong.
Doesn’t bother me one bit.  We love each other just the same.
I accept and love them for who they are and they do the same with me.
We really can “all get along”.  Heck we can even talk about it civilly.  Without throwing food.
We really don’t have to have “The Great Chicken War of 2012″ just because the media told us we should.

If I see one more self righteous chicken war post (on either side of the battle) on Facebook I may be forced to just post  a very loud…
“Cluck Cluck Cluck” after each post.
Can’t a girl just eat her chicken nuggets in peace without it meaning/symbolizing anything more than I just wanted a chicken nugget?
The real question…
Did I boycott or go to Chick-fil-a today?

Personally I stayed home but for no other reason than it is just like when the kids bicker..
I refuse to pay the whole thing any attention (taking sides) because there will never be a “clear winner” and feeding the war, on either side, will not fix a single darn thing.
Other than drag this thing out even longer.

Now tomorrow is a whole different day.  If I want a nugget…by golly I will stop there.
I simply will not do it as a symbol of anything.
I will do it knowing that my money is helping feed the families of the hard working employees that work there and the franchise owners who may or may not agree with their CEO.
Oh and I probably won’t be posting about it on Facebook…there are enough posts about chicken right now;-)
Here’s to hoping the Chicken War ends sooner than later.

Christi Traster - Great post, Tisha! “Cluck cluck cluck” made me laugh out loud. :) August 2, 2012 – 8:35 am
