This is the year of two gardens…{Gardening Chronicles 2012

For the last three years I have had my much loved…often over crowded garden sitting just outside my kitchen door.
I have enjoyed this little chunk of heaven…
I have been frustrated when blights hit…
Overjoyed with little victories like having lots of ladybugs coming to live in it this year…

For me this little chunk has been a fantastic adventure in learning how to organically grow veggies…
Trust me “organic” is so not easy…

This year though I have an extra gift…my in-laws (God Bless them!) have decided to feed my disease by offering up a chunk of dirt that is 6 times the size of my kitchen garden!

What does this mean for me?
It means the ability to not have plants on top of each other…like a jungle.
It means the ability to preserve/can/freeze much much more…
It means the ability to even sell some at local farmers market if I would like to or just share with my friends.
This makes me very very happy.

This new adventure is just starting…
I know from my kitchen garden that it takes several years with organic gardening to get the soil “just right”…
The companion plants set up…
And the happy bugs and organisms coming to the party.
It’s going to be a challenge to move from fighting bunnies and birds to adding deer and many other new creatures to the battle…
But I am always up for an adventure!

Wish me luck!  This is going to be interesting!
