Tonight I stumbled upon John Seely Brown and listened to several of his talks on his new book The Power of Pull. I have to stay a few steps ahead of what is going to be expected of this next generation…you see I am “mom” and “teacher” and I am supposed to be making sure I am sending these kiddos in the right direction. This means seeing decades ahead to what will give them an advantage in their adult life. Happiness and creativity being a huge goal. My hope is that through knowing how to be creative/problem solving masters and having “tinkering” skills they not only will be marketable but may just land a career doing something they love…wouldn’t that be fantastic?
Oh the skills these kids are going to need in the future…
John’s talk on tinkering just had me thinking about Adam’s world of “Minecraft” LOL… Those kids are always teaching each other programing and crazy mad skills. Learning through play is a powerful tool.
Seriously…every parent should be paying close attention to this world and know what is going to be expected of our children. This world is ever changing…fast. What worked in education for the last 50 years may NOT work for the next 50.
