The Garden August 12 { Garden Chronicles 2011

Summer is coming to a close…
As someone who loves Summer I hate hate hate to see it go:-(
I always know it is on it’s way out though just by watching my garden start to fizzle out each year.  Granted this year it was a bit neglected in the end so “the fizzle” probably has started to happen a bit sooner than it normally would.
Last weekend Daryl and I go out there though and finally cleaned it out a bit…

Gone are the cucumbers…
Gone are most of the squash and zucchini plants….although we did manage to save one or two newer plants.
Gone are pumpkin vines…
Gone are about half of the tomato plants…
and gone are the carrots…well at least we finally dug them all up…

and the basil…no not the basil!!!  It went to seed but lucky for me I had planted a bunch of seeds mid July that are just now perfect but the old batch….went to seed…

and the corn was…well pitiful

and in the end we are getting ready to till up most of it and go ahead and plant more carrots…peas…soon enough lettuce and cabbage. I guess the gardening doesn’t have to stop.  Just time to swing into the Fall garden soon enough.
Fall…really?  Did I just say Fall?
I am not ready for Summer to end….booooo

Hope everyone is still enjoying there gardens and eecking out the last veggies of Summer.
