Tip of the Day {Be nice to your little people…

One day they will be big.

We have all been there.  At a store and in the middle of it you see this parent royally chewing out their child.  Telling them they are “being bad” and how horrible the child is and how they are a big old f* up.  Ok maybe they don’t “say” all of that but by dressing their child down in a very loud and public way they have managed to not only make their child feel teeny tiny but they have managed to make everyone around them within a 10 foot radius think they are a horrid parent and they would love to just take the child and give them a big hug…protect them from their parent.

So many folks just don’t get that their children aren’t their own personal whipping post.   Children are to be taught, loved and treated with respect.  Yes I said respect.  How will they ever learn to give respect if they have never received it a single day of their little life?

Yes all kids act up and your job is to parent but not to damage them for the rest of their life.  There is a line.

So today’s tip… lighten up on your kids.  I swear they will grow up one day and leave you.  How you treat them will dictate whether they ever come back to visit you or even take care of you if you need them and I promise…one day you may just need them and the roles will be reversed.  They will always remember how you treated them.

A child seldom needs a good talking to as a good listening to.  ~Robert Brault
